Allied Health Professions
Nurse Aide

This 120-hour program prepares you to provide basic care for patients in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and home health settings.
You will learn essential nursing skills, infection control procedures, and effective communication techniques, equipping you for entry-level positions as a nurse aide in a variety of healthcare environments.
Upon successful completion, you will:
1. Receive a certificate of completion from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)
2. Be eligible to take the PA Nurse Aide Competency Exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). -
Assisting in transporting patients in wheelchairs
Bathing and personal hygiene
Dressing and grooming assistance
Turning, repositioning, and range of motion exercises
Bed making and maintaining a clean environment
Catheter care and toileting support
Measuring and recording vital signs
Providing nourishment and mealtime assistance
Infection control and safety practices

Class Length: 18 total days

Daily Schedule: Classes are typically held Monday – Thursday from approximately 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Phlebotomy Technician

This 180-hour program prepares you to safely and effectively collect blood specimens for laboratory testing.
You will learn proper venipuncture techniques, patient interaction skills, and safety protocols, equipping you for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare settings.
Upon successful completion, you will:
1. Receive a certificate of completion from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)
2. Be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. -
Drawing blood using proper venipuncture techniques
Safely handling and labeling blood samples
Working with needles, collection tubes, and other equipment
Preparing patients before blood collection
Following infection control and safety procedures
Communicating clearly with patients and healthcare staff
Managing paperwork and patient records
Maintaining a clean and organized work area
Understanding basic anatomy and medical terminology

Class Length: 180 total hours

Daily Schedule: Classes are typically held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from approximately 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

The two-week clinical externship at the end of the program is completed on a Monday-Friday schedule during the daytime.
Clinical Medical Assistant

This 496-hour program prepares you to safely and effectively collect blood specimens for laboratory testing.
You will gain essential administrative and clinical skills, including medical terminology, anatomy, HIPAA compliance, taking vital signs, patient interviewing, phlebotomy, performing EKGs, giving injections, handling medical office billing and coding, and assisting with exams which prepares you for roles in clinics, physician offices, and ambulatory care settings.
Upon successful completion, you will:
1. Receive a certificate of completion from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)
2. Be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. -
Take patient vital signs like blood pressure and temperature
Interview patients and record medical histories
Prepare patients for exams and assist during procedures
Give injections and perform basic lab tests
Draw blood and collect other specimens for testing
Conduct EKGs and monitor heart activity
Schedule appointments and manage patient check-ins
Handle medical billing, coding, and insurance forms
Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with supplies
Communicate with patients, doctors, and other healthcare staff

Skilled Trades Professions
Commercial and Industrial Electro-Mechanical Technician

You will be prepared for roles in manufacturing and industrial settings by building foundational skills in mechanical and electrical systems. You will learn to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment used in modern high-tech facilities.
Upon successful completion, you will:

Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment
Troubleshoot machinery and system issues in real time
Calibrate industrial machines for accurate performance
Assist with the installation of new manufacturing equipment

You will learn to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in commercial and industrial buildings. Through hands-on training, students gain the skills needed to work with industrial-grade pipes, fixtures, and systems in facilities ranging from office buildings to large-scale factories and hospitals.
Upon successful completion, you will:
1. Receive a certificate of completion
2. Earn industry-recognized certifications -
Install and repair industrial-grade plumbing systems
Join and fit various types of piping materials
Install and service water heaters, faucets, and plumbing fixtures
Maintain and troubleshoot existing plumbing systems in commercial buildings
Read and follow blueprints and plumbing schematics
Use hand and power tools to complete installations and repairs
Inspect systems for leaks, blockages, and compliance issues
Follow safety protocols and comply with OSHA standards
Communicate with supervisors and clients about repair needs

You will learn how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in large commercial and industrial buildings. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in the growing HVAC industry and eligible for OSHA and EPA certifications.
Upon successful completion, you will:
1. Receive a certificate of completion
2. Earn industry-recognized certifications -
Install, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems
Perform efficiency evaluations on heating and cooling systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation and temperature control issues
Work with large-scale systems in buildings like hospitals, schools, and apartment complexes
Interpret blueprints and system diagrams
Follow safety procedures and environmental regulations
Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness

Upon successful completion, you will:

Facilities Maintenance Technicians are responsible the repair, upkeep, and general maintenance of buildings and their systems. This includes working on:
HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
Plumbing and electrical systems
Carpentry and masonry
General repairs and preventative maintenance in residential, commercial, and institutional spaces
